You are invited to the 2024 Annual General Meeting of the KLRA to be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 10:00 am (for about two hours). This will be an in-person meeting at the Gravenhurst Opera House.
A proposal will be presented to change the name of our Association to Kahshe and Bass Lake Association (KBLA). Here are some thoughts about it.
The Not-for-Profit Corporations Act (Ontario) (ONCA) was proclaimed into force on October 19, 2021.
ONCA was designed to establish a modern regulatory regime for not-for-profit corporations in Ontario that would be responsive to their needs and includes provisions to facilitate good corporate governance, transparency and efficiencies such as electronic document filing through the Ontario Business Registry portal.
The Kahshe Lake Ratepayers Association (1994) Inc. is subject to ONCA. The executive committee of the KLRA has worked hard to ensure that our charter documents and by-laws are compliant under ONCA. Certain regulatory amendments are being made to our charter that were previously adopted by way of bylaw or special resolution. In addition, a new updated (ONCA compliant) general by-law is being presented that sets out our day-to-day governance. It should be noted that there is no change to our membership classes, approved by the members at the 2019 annual meeting.
One vote per Voting Membership is permitted by KLRA by-laws. If you cannot attend the meeting, you can use the proxy form below to have someone else vote for you. Your proxy should bring the completed form to the meeting.
