With a forecast of thundershowers, the 2015 Kermit Long Fishing Derby began at 9 am on Denne's dock. With only a couple of brief periods of rain, 38 kids brought in over 70 fish to be measured. The largest entry overall for those 12 years old and under was a 25 1/2 inch pike brought in by Colton MacLeod. In the 13-16 yr old group, the winner was Max Turvey with a 33 5/8 pike, slime and all. The tiniest entry was a 2 inch perch caught by Justin Selva. Everyone got a toonie for their first fish entered. First place winners received a trophy, 2nd place winners got $7 and 3rd place winners took home $5.
