DOCK OF THE BAY RESTAURANT – GRAND OPENING CELEBRATION
Already open for only a few weeks, Dock of the Bay restaurant is inviting all to their grand opening celebration.
Partners Wayne Laio and Peter Wu wanted to deliver a unique dining and entertainment experience. "Our conference and wedding facility on the upper level provides one of the most stunning views in Muskoka," said Wu, "the upper level could accommodate up to 130 guests and the outdoor patio 80 guests."
Laio and Wu, who have an extensive business background, hired executive chef Darren Hehir, a culinary veteran of 24 years whose experience includes executive chef at the Regatta Steak and Seafood Grille, the former restaurant at this location.
"Menu selections are of a global fare with strong Mediterranean and North American influences," said Hehir, "I have created a number of unique signature dishes, such as the dock steak slider, a popular dish at the former Regatta Steak and Seafood Grille."
The opening of Dock of the Bay brings renewed excitement to the wharf and the business community in Gravenhurst. "This is another example that demonstrates Gravenhurst is a place to do business," said District Councillor Rosemary King, "Dock of the Bay will positively impact the momentum and energy that is occurring at our wharf."
When advised the restaurant expects to employ in excess of 30 employees year round, King added that "Gravenhurst certainly needs the jobs in ensuring this is a community to live, work and play."
In addition to the upper dining area, the main floor dining area seats 85 and the outdoor patio seats 120. The restaurant is open seven days a week from 11 am to 10 pm. Dock of the Bay is owned by the Crystal Galleon Company. Laio and Wu expect to perfect and expand the Crystal Galleon and Dock of the Bay concept to other locations.
According to Tony Rossi, the Town’s Director of Economic Development and Communications, Gravenhurst has had a number of recent business openings and continues to receive inquires from investors seeking to do business in Gravenhurst. "Staff and Council are committed to working strategically to make Gravenhurst the place to invest."
