KLRA Ice-Out Contest Rules and Terms 2020
Objective: To estimate and record, on a official contest ticket, the time of the “ice-out” of the Official KLRA sailboat onto the ice/water in Kahshe Lake.
Set Up: A sailboat has been set up on wooden stands, freestanding in front of Steve and Hayley Wild’s cottage – supported by the ice. When the ice melts sufficiently to allow the supporting wooden platform to sink through the ice, the platform and boat will drop. Ice-Out will be called when the boat is fully in the water/ice.
How it Works: This is a skill testing contest where the participant guesses the day, date, hour, minute and second the KLRA sailboat drops into Kahshe Lake. Tickets are available at a cost of $5 each or 3 for $10. Click the Register button (which is hard to see) to enter.
Prize: 50% of the net proceeds from ticket sales will be awarded to the person who estimates the ice-out time closest to the “recorded ice-out time” and not after the “recorded ice-out time”. In the event of a tie, where all information is the same or equal, the prize money will be divided equally.
Proceeds: Go to support the KLRA Annual Regatta and Nagaya Beach Activities
Terms and Conditions:
“Ice-out” will be established by using a combined webcam that will be targeted on the boat. “Recorded ice-out time” will be established by the KLRA Ice-Out Judge and reported on our website, Twitter account, Facebook page and via an e-blast to KLRA members and participants.
Determination of winner will be by the KLRA. Decision of the Judges is final.
Contest closes midnight, Tuesday April 7 or earlier if the sailboat has dropped and Ice-out is called.
