    Hi,

We are island cottagers and would love to know when the ice is gone and it is safe to put the boat in.  Please let us know as we are itching to get back to the lake.

We're anxious island cottagers as well. You may find this webcam of interest. Although it's Bala Bay, it will give you some idea of lake conditions in Muskoka. We look at it 10x/day. Now THAT's anxious. :) http://www.thekee.com/keecam.html

Here's a web cam at Muskoka Wharf in Gravenhurst: http://www.achannel.ca/home/webcam/Server2Image4.jpg .  It looks like there is some open water, but there is ice close to shore.  The water here might not be moving as quickly as the water by the Kee.

Someday we'll figure out how to have a web cam on Kahshe.

Got the following note from Judy Ring today:

"To anyone that is anxious to get to the cottage, you can probably get there as most of the ice is gone.  There is still pieces floating around but should be gone in another day or two."

Thanks, Judy, for keeping us up to date.

We got across to our cottage on Saturday. There were chunks of ice floating around but they were thin enough that our aluminum boat plowed through them, no problem. They will definitely be gone by this weekend.

Wow, that is great! Now we can have Easter at the cottage.  Thanks for your reply.  Here's to a long cottage season.

Well we spent an amazing Easter weekend at the lake.  I have been on the lake for 50 years and cannot remember it being this warm so early.  It was pretty quiet with few boats out.  Saw the rock marker team out. The wind storm on Saturday night was a bit scary but no damage that we could see although we heard that there were power outages on shore.
